commander in the army is reffered to the leader of the squad thing (company, division, battalion, brigade, etc) General is the overall leader, there is a general for the army, airforce, and marines i think

Scorch got it again.
Foster, you have the right idea. A Commander can be a general term used to describe a leader like that, But for the Clan, Commander is the abbreviation for Commander-in-Chief.
I was looking for the answer Scorcher gave.
